Have you spoken to your kids about the Hurricane Katrina disaster? Do they want to help? This section offers tools and tips for helping your child, a group of his/her friends, or a larger group of kids get involved in Quarters From Kids.
You can help your children tap their power to help others in urgent need and show the people of New Orleans and in Mississippi and Georgia that they care about their fellow citizens in need. This campaign is rooted in a deep faith in our young people including your own kids. As your children and other young people across America learn how they can help they will choose to take responsibility to help others through their generosity, hard work, and leadership.
At a time of national tragedy, you can get your children involved in making a difference. The Quarters From Kids campaign can help enable every student to achieve his or her potential, achieve excellence in what they do to, become a leader, and experience that their actions makinge a big difference in the world.
Getting Kids Involved
As a first step, direct your kids to this website! Talk with them about what they are reading on the site, how they are feeling, and what they would like to do to help. You can help them help others.
Quarters From Kids is about kids in action. We want to support Hurricane Katrina relief and teach children how they can be a part of the effort. Every quarter (and dime and dollar) raised will go to the highly respected Quarters From Kids Relief Partner of their choice.
Tools for Getting Your Kids Involved
- Help your child raise funds
- Organize small groups or entire classrooms into teams that raise funds
- Create “team captains” to lead small groups in planning a project (see Just for Kids page for project ideas).
